This & That Thursday #4

I know, I know I am having trouble remembering to post my This & That Thursday post each week. Maybe I should start a forgetful Friday post on the weeks I forget. 😉

Actually I didn’t have a lot to share last week anyway, so you didn’t miss much.

However our son started football camp. He is going into the 8th grade and decided that he wants to join the school football team. So they had a week long practice camp for incoming students. All I can say is I don’t know how I am going to handle this football thing. I had to check him from head to toe when he got home his first day. What am I going to do when I’m watch a game and see my baby get tackled? How do you other football moms deal with the Anxiety?

Well Corey is out of town again. Luckily this is only for 1 day. He should be home this evening or probably in the wee hours of the morning. So I don’t have to go through withdrawals on this trip.

I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before, but in our house Hulu is the bomb. However I just recently added Netflix to our household and I think I might be in heaven. I was holding out because Hulu has so much on it. But there is one show I’ve been wanting to see that I had to get Netflix for, Downton Abbey. I know I’m behind and it’s been out for a couple of seasons, but I’m hooked. I am now in the process of catching up and watching at least on episode a night. But so far between Hulu & Netflix we still don’t need satellite or cable in the house.

And just because it’s my current obsession I’ll leave you with a photo of Downton abbey.

Hermann Park Engagement – Family Shoot : Courtney & Corey

A couple of weeks ago Corey & I had the delight of photographing Courtney, another  Corey and Courtney’s little girl Kelli. We met up at Hermann park and were lucky enough to get some shoot time in before one of the Houston thunderstorms ended the session for us.

Be sure you’re a fan of our Facebook Page. I’ll be posting more photos there soon !!

Tragedy at the Bowman Household

Imagine being a mother and waking up to a blood curdling scream at 12:30 am. Yes that’s what happened to me last night. I was sound asleep when I hear my 13 year old screaming bloody murder & crying at the top of his lungs for his father…Needless to say my feet hit the floor before I was fully awake.

Well if you follow us on facebook then you might know that we recently had 2 new additions to our home in the form of my son’s 2 pet mice. I had an awesome blog post all planned out on welcoming these critters into our home and all (procrastinator that I am it hadn’t been published yet).

Well that blog post wont happen now. It seems that at 12:30 this morning one of the critters decided to climb her water bottle and make a break for it. You know the grass is greener on the outside of the mouse cage. That being said our dog happened to be there when she jumped out, and doing what dogs do best, she had to protect us from this fearsome creature.

So I spent about an hour consoling my 13 year old son and explaining to him that it wasn’t our dogs fault since she thought she was doing the right thing. Now I get to head to the pet store and pick up another mouse for a playmate of the one that stayed in the cage.

So I’ll end this post with a photo of the cutie pies that my son snapped with his cell phone a few days ago.

Pine Forest Prom | Livingston Texas Event Photographers

Well today is the summer solstice, so summer is officially here. I guess that means it’s about time that I finally share this blog post ! Just before the end of the school year Corey & I were invited to share in the prom of Pine Forest Christian School. Let me tell you it was a great night. Not only did the kids have a great time but so did the adults. 🙂

I thought I’d share just a few of the photos from that night.

See, I told you everyone had a great time. The kids & adults danced up a storm. If you look close you might find me out on the dance floor too !

One person even danced their shoes off !

I can’t wait till next years prom. It’s already in the planning stages.

Unplugging For The Weekend

Yep this is what we as a family will be doing this weekend. To often we get caught up in work, school, and the overall rat race of life. We forget the important things. So this weekend. We will be spending time just enjoying ourselves, our family, and our friends.

Please understand that we still appreciate each and every one of our clients, and potential clients, and we will return any emails or phone calls when we get back in the normal groove on Tuesday.

Have a great weekend everyone and remember to hug your loved ones. 🙂

Eastyn turns 1 !!!! / Texas Children’s Photographer

Disclaimer: Only read this if you are ready for a cuteness overload !!!

Corey & I had the wonderful opportunity to go and meet Miss Eastyn and photograph her to commemorate her first birthday.  I have to be honest, when I found out that Mom & Dad had driven from College Station and Miss E hadn’t taken a nap the whole way I was starting to worry…..But a more well-behaved little girl we have never met. She almost made me want another baby. I said ALMOST !!!

Now on to the photos……..

Remember I warned you about the cuteness overload.

And while we were there of course we had to go ahead and shoot a few family photos too.

Isn’t she just the cutest thing? To tell you the truth I couldn’t get enough of her!!! Be sure you’re a fan of our Facebook page, since I’ll be uploading more soon !

Happy Belated Memorial Day !

So I wanted to post this photo yesterday but of course my phone was acting up on me. I will be so glad when I get a new one in a couple of months. 🙂 But anyway, we spent a great day out on the lake with some wonderful friends (sorry for the bad cell phone photo) and then had an awesome photo shoot with the cutest 1 yr old. I can’t wait to show y’all some pics of her.

How was your Memorial day? I hope everyone had a fabulous day and remembered to give thanks to those who give everything they have to keep us free !

I just love this photo of Brent at his Pawpaw’s grave site.  It is a good reminder of what yesterday was all about.

I Heart Faces

The I Heart Faces photo challenge this month is “Hey Girl” . When digging through my photos, I came across this one of Brittany and had to use it for my submission. True it’s not the most technically correct photo Corey or I have ever taken, but come on this shows what a typical goofy teenage girl really is !!!

P.S. – I love you Britt !!! ~Michelle

Weekend Recap | The Importance of Photographs

This was a sad weekend for me. Saturday we laid to rest a person that has been in my life for a long time. My mother has worked for the same company for almost 30 years. So her bosses have become like extended family to us. They have watched me grow up and I have gone to the weddings of their children.

However for the last few years one of the owners has been battling liver disease. It has been a long hard road, and in the past few weeks we learned that he was being taken off of the transplant list. In a way we understand. There are many people out there in need and many with better odds of making it through the surgery than he had. That still didn’t make it any easier on us.

So last week he was sent home from the hospital with the prognosis of a few days left. The next day I got the call. It’s a very old saying but no matter how many times you live it, it still rings true, “You don’t know what you have till its gone”.

However for those of us left behind, life goes on. So Sunday afternoon was spent doing chores by my family. Including cleaning out one of our storage rooms. Yes I said one of. What can I say I have a lot of junk. 🙂 While rummaging through boxes we came across a few of them filled with old family photographs.

I don’t know about you but I love to go through old pictures. But yesterday the importance of these photos hit me. None of us will be here forever. It’s up to us to give the loved ones we left behind tidbits of the memories we have created. Photographs aren’t just prints on paper, they are parts of our lives for others to remember us by.

(but they are also fun to look at)

52 Week Friday

Many of you have probably heard about the 365 project. It’s where you take a photo to represent something in your life every day for a year. Well, I know the type of person I am, and I know that there is know way I would keep up with that for more that a week or so. So I decided to change it up a little bit and join those people out there that are doing the 52 week project. One photo a week, yeah I can probably keep up with that.  🙂

Now I know what you are thinking “Uh, Michelle you’ve already missed a couple of weeks”. Well in my defense I really didn’t decide to join the bandwagon until a couple of days ago. But I thought to myself “that’s OK” cause I photos from the first 2 weeks of the year that I could use and just post on this the first weekly project 52 post.

Well that was the plan, and then something terrible happened……My cell phone crashed. Yep it won’t turn on at all, even when it’s plugged into the charger. So those photos I was gonna include….well there gone. I can’t even begin to tell you how frustrated I am right now. Not because I can’t include them in this post but because they were some great family snap shots that I wanted to keep.

But its alright. I started over last night. So I guess it would technically be a project 50 now.  😛

So here is my photo of the week. I ordered Jasmine Star’s self published magazine Exposed, for myself over the Christmas holidays and I am so happy that I finally have the chance to sit down and start reading it. I can’t wait to see all the intelligent info she has to impart !!! LOL

Anyway happy Friday, and hope you all have a great weekend !
